Job Seeker Services

Looking for a job, or a better job?  WorkSource Thurston County has a variety of self help resources and activities, called Core Services, designed to help you achieve your employment goal.  There is never a charge for these services.  If you are unable to achieve your employment goal after using our Core Services, you may be eligible for other services, including Training.  To get started, jobseekers are encouraged to attend our Orientation To Services Workshop every Wednesday.

Workshops

We offer workshops designed to prepare you for your job search and achieve your employment goals.  To get started, you are encouraged to attend our Orientation to Services every Wednesday.  Workshop descriptions are provided on the Calendar. For more information, click in the topics listed below:

Resource Area

Our Resource Area is arranged to help you with job search and career exploration.  We offer, free of charge, computers with Internet access, photocopier, FAX machine, telephones, TV/VCR for viewing occupational tapes, and reference material.  Staff will assist you in using these resources.  In addition, we have a Computer Lab that is available at times there are no workshops, as an overflow resource area.  All computers have Internet access, word processing, and tutorials for Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, Mavis-Beacon typing tutorial, and WinWay Resume writer.

Use the Access Washington Resource Directory to locate sources of assistance available in your community.

Labor Market Information  

Find current data on the available labor force, occupational projections, area demographics, pay rates, unemployment statistics, salary surveys and industry trends

WORKFORCE EXPLORER

Unemployment Insurance

Southwest Washington residents may open a new Unemployment Insurance claim, or talk to a Specialist about an existing claim, by calling the Seattle Telecenter, 1-800-318-6022.  An increasingly popular way to open a new claim, or file weekly claims, is by going Online (go2ui.com).  This web site will also allow you to reopen an existing claim, or change your address or telephone number.

Training Opportunities and Other Services

If you are looking for a job, or trying to find a better job, you are encouraged to use our Core Services, including our Resource Area and Workshops, at no charge.  To get started you should attend our Orientation to Services workshop offered on Wednesdays.  A counselor will be available to help you organize your job search activities. If you discover you need more than our Core Services to reach the next step in your employment goal, your counselor will check to see if you are eligible for additional services, including testing and training activities.
